Welcome to mutant space
supporting the development and production of your arts projects and events
Mutant space provides free practical support for Irish arts projects and events by giving you access to our collective resources and skills. These collective resources and skills allow you to experiment, fail, make and play no matter who you are, where you are, what you do or when you do it
So how does it work? Simple really. Our arts resource is set up to function as a co-op that works on the gift economy principle. In other words rather than use money in exchange for resources we use our own skills and resources as an alternative form of economic exchange.
You pool your skills and resources into our bank and scrap store as well as your information, knowledge and interests into our ezine, forum and social network. The collective skills, resources and information of the membership are then free for you to use whenever you're involved in the creation, development or production of an arts project or event whether it be a dance show, gig, club, charity event, film, feast, sporting occasion, publication, etc at no cost whatsoever. Over time we hope to build this resource into a viable creative economy, a real alternative to the current economic arts structure that is based on state funding bodies, local authorities, bureacracy and red tape.
Our resource is open to everybody and anybody and we do not differentiate between the artist and non-artist, professional or amateur so if you have an idea but need support hopefully this resource will help you realise it. So go for it, it's free and easy to join. Remember, this resource is based on mutual benefit so the more you put in to it the more you'll get out of it. We're only as good as the collective wealth of our resources so the more people that join up, the more resources will be available to the membership and the more we'll be able to do. For more info on us go to our about page.
We currently host a resource bank, scrap store, events listings, forum, arts links page, arts ezine and various social network sites. Have a look around, read more about us and join up, it’s free and it’s yours.
We also host our own projects and events through this arts resource so keep an eye out for updates. To see what we got up to in 2009 check out our previous events page in our ezine
